Single of the Day: Alex the Astronaut “Waste of Time” (2018)

Not far from hitting the stage at Spin Off Festival in Adelaide today or Splendour in the Grass tomorrow, Sydney’s Alex the Astronaut snuck out a long awaited new song on triple j Good Nights last night!

“Waste of Time”, her first new track of the calendar year is a stellar indication of just how much this young artist is growing as a songwriter and as a musician; something that’s only getting more and more evident with every show she plays (oft surrounded by the likes of Lindy Morrison on Drums, who has to be a pretty bloody good influence).

Lyrically, it’s a ripper of a song, and luckily we have a snazzy lyric video to sink our teeth into below, so by the time she plays it at Splendour – you may already know the words! And you’ll also find it over on our new Spotify Discovery Playlist.

If you’re like us, we’re hoping this is just the start of a run of new material from the rising star. And given some of what I’ve heard in her recent performances at The Great Escape and Primavera in Barcelona, I dare say we’re all in for quite a treat…

Follow Alex on her official website and on Facebook.
