This afternoon, Ziggy Ramo announced his signing with Village Sounds, along with the announcement that he is to be joining the likes of The Shins, Cashmere Cat and Alt J at Perth’s Fidelity Festival. Taking things back to Brisbane at BIGSOUND, the young lyricist and performer sat down with us to share more of his story and what has driven him as an artist so far.
“The way I describe it, it’s a bit of a dichotomy. I make selfless music but it’s very selfish. For me, it took me 20 years of my life to figure out who I was and to figure out my identity; to be real with who I was and to be able to take off the mask and the layers.”
“We wake up and it’s like ‘Go do life!’ – we don’t have a manual and you don’t have the capacity and understanding of knowing how to deal with everything you’re presented with. Music is really therapeutic for me, so it took me time as a person to realise who I was and who I wanted to be; music just became an extension of my counselling.”
