While in Sydney last week with the Foo Fighters, Weezer drummer Pat Wilson took some time out to hang with us and catch us up on everything Pacific Daydream, and where the new album has taken the beloved US band since.
With their music always maintaining a distinctly Californian sound, Wilson weighs in on this otherwise classic Weezer element, “I’m proud to say that even though we’re not all from California, California has embraced us.”
Acknowledging the need to be constantly on the front foot when it comes to creating new music and also, creating new music that fits with the band dynamic, Wilson chats with us about the legacy of the Weezer catalogue and how they can’t just be ‘the band with the Blue album’.
Wilson also reflects on his time as a touring musician coming out from the States to Australia, noting this current tour as including one of his favourite cities in Perth, while Australian crowds in general have mostly been accommodating to the band with each visit – except when it’s come to one classless person in Adelaide.
