Interview: Scenic Route to Alaska (Canada) take us through their debut Australian tour

Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, indie group Scenic Route to Alaska have been impressing us out on their debut Australian tour. Joining us on the couch at Leadbelly in Newtown, the trio take us through their experiences on the road for Australian Music Week and other shows scattered down the east coast.

“I think a lot of Australians have been to Canada, way more so than…we’ve toured Europe a few times and in Germany, it seems like nobody has been to Canada, but in Australia, everyone has been to Banff or Whistler…!”

“It’s fun and it’s a challenge,” they say of breaking their music in with international audiences. “Like anything, it takes quite a bit of commitment to come down here; it’s a pretty far journey for us. It’s always nice to light that fire back underneath you. It gives you something to prove. Every time we hit the stage, we might as well leave it all up there because it’s a pretty long journey back home. We don’t want to regret anything while we’re here.”
