Wu-Tang Clan will play two very special shows at the Sydney Opera House in December

Up from the 36 chambers the legendary Wu-Tang Clan have announced a triumphant return to Australia with two exclusive, very special shows celebrating the 25th anniversary of their iconic debut Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). The 1993 classic will be performed in full by all nine surviving core members at none other than the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House, transformed for a 360* in-the-round style show.

“Over 25 years ago and coming from what seemed like nowhere, Wu-Tang Clan stepped from the shadows of Staten Island to run 10,000 volts of mesmerising weirdness through the body of hip hop, changing it forever”, states Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Music Ben Marshall, adding his own to the many words that have been used to describe just how impactful and influential this hip hop collective has been for over two decades.

This will be the first time Australian fans have been given a chance to hear the peerless hip-hop masterpiece in full, from crowd favourites “C.R.E.A.M” and “Protect Ya Neck” to lyrical treasure chests like “Wu-Tang: 7th Chamber—Part II” and “Da Mystery of Chessboxin”. And if their 2016 Hordern Pavilion show is anything to go by, it’s going to be one hell of a good time.

It’s also a nice indication that Sydney Opera House are beginning to book more hip hop acts, with this being the fourth big-ticket rap act to play the Concert HAll stage in the past decade, after Kanye West, Lauryn Hill, and most recently Ice Cube/WC (with WC most definitely being the first person to ever crip walk on the stage).

The RZA, The GZA, Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, U-God, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, and Cappadonna will be bouncing their lyrically dense and dextrous tracks off the walls of Sydney Opera House’s iconic walls on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December. The official pre-sale kicks off at 9am AEST today and the general sale takes place tomorrow, Thursday 19th July, also at 9am AEST. Tickets (from $129) can be purchased HERE.
