WOMADelaide secures five year license, will remain at Adelaide’s Botanic Park until 2024

Good news for WOMADelaide lovers this morning, as the South Australian Government was able to reveal that they’ve locked down the immensely popular festival through until 2024. An exclusive arrangement with WOMAD Ltd, as well as a five year license extension has guaranteed the future of the world music and arts festival in its home at Adelaide’s Botanic Park, with a development program in the works for WOMADelaide to continue to expand and grow significantly over the next few years.

As one of the country’s most loved and diverse festivals, WOMADelaide sees huge numbers every year, boosting tourism in Adelaide at that time when the city is already pumping thanks to the Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Adelaide Festival and all other events coming under the ‘Mad March’ banner.

WOMAD founder, Peter Gabriel, has remarked, “Over the past 25 years, WOMADelaide has not only evolved into a great Australian event, but also a great WOMAD event. WOMAD festivals have always flourished in beautiful surroundings, and the location in Adelaide next to the Botanic Gardens is still one of my favourites.”

As part of today’s reveal, two massive acts have also been named for WOMADelaide 2018 in The Manganiyar Seduction from India (pictured) and Grande Ciel‘s Place des Anges from France.
