Musically, Aussie pop artist Troye Sivan keeps going from strength to strength, and will soon be releasing his anticipated second record Bloom. But the singer who once appeared as a Young Wolverine hasn’t giving up acting either; he’ll be appearing in Joel Edgerton‘s new film Boy Erased, which also stars the likes of Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman, Lucas Hedges and Red Hot Chili Pepper bassist Flea (an honorary Australian in his own right).
The trailer for the film, which was released today (and believe it or not is an American production, in spite of being led by a who’s who of Aussie talent), features a snippet of “Revelation”, a track that Troye has written for the film in collaboration with Sigur Ros frontman Jonsi and Leland. Catch it in the trailer here:
Boy Erased will tell the story of Jared (Hedges), the son of a Baptist pastor in a small American town, who is outed to his parents (Kidman and Crowe) at age 19. Jared is faced with an ultimatum: attend a conversion therapy program – or be permanently exiled and shunned by his family, friends, and faith. Boy Erased is the true story of one young man’s struggle to find himself while being forced to question every aspect of his identity. Joel Edgerton (The Gift, Loving) has directed, written and produced the film – and he co-stars in it as well!
Troye Sivan’s new record Bloom will be released on August 31st, while Boy Erased will hit US cinemas in November, with an Australian release expected not long after. We expect the track to be officially released closer to the film’s release, as part of its soundtrack.
If you want to catch Troye live, he’s playing Show Of The Summer on August 4th in Hersey, PA (USA), before kicking off an American tour from September 21st. You can grab all the details about that on his official website. No Australian tour dates have yet been announced but you can keep an eye on the AU, as we’ll let you know when they are!
