Tony Visconti named as SXSW Music’s first keynote speaker for 2016

Easily one of the most well-known and important producers in pop and rock music, Tony Visconti will be heading to Austin in March to deliver a no doubt must see keynote speech at SXSW Music. For the first time in its history, the music conference will be offering multiple keynote speakers and today, Visconti’s spot within the programming marks the first announcement.

Of course, Visconti’s work with David Bowie recently came back into the spotlight with the release of Blackstar and Bowie’s recent passing away, but his work with a variety of artists including Angelique Kidjo, U2, Kaiser Chiefs, Daphne Guinness and T. Rex have won him Grammys, accolades and praise the world over.

Visconti’s keynote is open to all SXSW Music and Platinum badge holders and will be held at the Austin Convention Center on March 18th. More keynote speakers are still to be announced but if this news is any indicator, we’re very excited to see who else will be featured.

SXSW Music runs from March 15th – 20th this year, celebrating it’s 30th year running. For more information, visit www.sxsw.com.
