The Stonnington Jazz Festival doles out an eccentric and enticing program for 2018

Returning for its 13th year in May, the acclaimed Stonnington Jazz Festival has unveiled its 2018 program and as expected, it’s set to bring some eclectic shows to venues throughout the district.

A favourite of the festival (and Melbourne), The Shaolin Afronauts return, the Adelaide jazz fusion group taking to the Astor Theatre in presenting Mad Jazz 3: Beyond Thunderdome; a screening of Mad Max set to a very much Shaolin Afronaut soundtrack.

Stonnington Jazz, under the direction of Artistic Director Chelsea Wilson for another year, extends to productions from the dance, visual arts, spoken word and film mediums along with music – a program that caters to everyone, Jazz aficionado or not.

Swooping Duck will bring an exclusive production of Jazz in Colour: Swooping Duck with Zero Crossing to the festival for improvised music not seen elsewhere. Another highlight of this year’s Stonnington Jazz Festival will see Georgie Darvidis and Hannah Cameron present Björk: InterpretedMama Alto, Tom Barton and more perform.

This year’s Stonnington Jazz Festival runs from May 10th – 20th! Head to www.stonningtonjazz.com.au for more info!
