The Shins reveal “Name For You” from new album, Heartworms

Few indie-rock bands can stick it out for over a decade and remain as prevalent and charming as they were at the beginning. The Shins are proving themselves to be one of those bands.

Maybe you’re like myself and nod fondly to the day your adolescent ears first let James Mercer’s sunny vocals teach you that it’s okay to enjoy happy music, and perhaps it can make you feel better than hours of blaring The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. So naturally, news of the band’s fifth studio album due March 10 has made a lot of us ex-emo kids very excited.

It’s titled Heartworms and is the first album since Oh, Inverted World (2001) to be completely self-produced and written by James Mercer himself. We’ve been treated to first single “Name For You” ahead of time, and it’s as upbeat and shining as ever. Check out the track listing for Heartworms and the new single below!
