The Josh Pyke Partnership has opened for another year, giving Australian musicians an opportunity to get their hands on $7,500 to help pursue their craft. Helmed by Josh Pyke and APRA AMCOS, the partnership isn’t just a cash in hand competition, with the winning artist set to develop and execute a business plan to support their career progression as a result of the overall process.
Now in its fifth year, the Josh Pyke Partnership has become a well-regarded and respected initiative, with last year’s winner Angie McMahon continuing to level up on live stages since her time spent with Pyke and APRA.
“This prize had a huge effect on my year because it meant I could pursue the professional goals I’d set for myself,” says Angie. “The vote of confidence from Josh Pyke and APRA helped people believe in my music, which is very powerful, and I’ve been busy pursuing opportunities since receiving the prize. It felt like I’d been passed the relay baton, and then I was off and running.”
Along with the $7,500 prize, the winning musician will also receive mentorship from Pyke himself, Gregg Donovan (Wonderlick Entertainment) and Stephen Wade (Select Music). Entries are open until 5pm AEDT, March 31st. The winner will be announced on June 8th.
To enter, applicants mustn’t be signed to recording or publishing house, and will need to submit a business plan detailing how they will use the $7,500 grant. Check it out, here.
