Slum Village announce Australian shows for 2016

When you think of Detroit hip hop there are a few names that comes to mind. One would, of course, be Eminem, and the other most prominent reference would be J Dilla. The latter, legendary and influential producer was known as the key piece of the puzzle that once completed the highly respect Slum Village, with many of his most acclaimed, earlier productions reserved for the collective of T3, the late Baatin, and Dilla himself. Over the years, Slum Village have changed line ups but always stayed true to the undeniable style was created by the aforementioned three artists. Now a duo – with T3 and producer RJ Young – SV are prepping the group’s 20th year in the music industry, and part of that celebration is a round of shows across Australia.

While only a brief tour down under, Slum Village will first hit Melbourne as part of NYD festival Let Them Eat Cake at Werribee Mansion. Following that, SV will headline a new boutique festival in Sydney named What It Is! at The Factory Theatre on Saturday 2nd January, playing alongside the likes of Briggs and Conkarah.

Before they fly down to Australia, SV will also be hitting up Auckland for a NYE show at Northern Bass Festival.
