The 13th annual Bush Bands Bash is taking place in Alice Springs this August – a result of the Bush Bands Business and the Bush Bands concert coming together and showcasing some incredible talent. In a record-breaking effort, 16 bands from remote communities applied to be part of the Bush Bands Program this year and today, the six bands selected for the development program have been announced!
Each from different communities, the six bands are diverse and representative of some brilliant storytellers and music. Five of the six bands join the program for the first time, while an all-female band is on the band for the first time.
Says Bush Bands Program Coordinator Adelaide Wood, “This year the band selection encompassing an East Arnhem Land band and an all female band, as well as some great new talent from the Western Desert region. We are now starting to see young bands applying to the Program who are actively being mentored by their community for this opportunity. The whole Central Desert music scene is going from strength to strength and MusicNT is proud to be at the forefront of supporting it.”
