Nominations now open for the 2017 National Indigenous Music Awards

The National Indigenous Music Awards celebrates 14 years in 2017 and as of today, the nominations for the event are officially open. Celebrating the last year of Indigenous music and recognising the sheer amount of talent that has been making waves nationally and overseas, the NIMAs encourages artists from right across the country and the Torres Strait to submit their songs for consideration.

From there, a panel of Australian and international music industry members will deliberate and come to their final decision, the results of which will be unveiled at the awards ceremony, to be held at the historic Darwin Amphitheatre come August 12th.

In another top announcement out of the NIMAs camp for 2017, the awards have come together with Warner Music in releasing a National Indigenous Music Awards album for the first time in its history. The double CD package showcases the best Indigenous Australian music from 2016/2017 on one disc, before the second disc highlights the rich history of Indigenous music throughout the years, including tracks by Yothu YindiArchie RoachNo Fixed Address and more.

More details about the event are still to come, but for now visit www.indigenousmusic.com.au for more information and tickets.
