Nominations for this year’s Australian Jazz Bell Awards opening on February 1st

Nominations for this year’s Australian Jazz Bell Awards are open for the awards’ 16th year. Over seven categories, the best jazz records, ensembles and artists of the last 12 months will be recognised; the 2017 awards saw the likes of Stu Hunter and Andrea Keller win, while Ted Vining and Harry Mitchell earned a Hall of Famer and Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year spot respectively.

Similar to the ARIAs, only members of the Australian Jazz Academy can submit potential nominees, uploaded to the Australian Jazz Academy website. Entries are open until March 1st, where they’ll be deliberated upon in the lead up to the main event – an awards ceremony held at Melbourne’s Bird’s Basement venue on May 15th.
