Girlpool sign to Anti-Records and tease new album Powerplant out May 12th

Since the release of their debut album in 2015, Girlpool have been continuously forging their own unique path to success. Amongst cross county relocations, deep diving into the DIY scene and the chaos of touring, all of their hard work has finally paid off. The Californian duo have just signed to Anti-Records and are primed to release their second album, Powerplant on May 12th.

Recorded at Comp-ny studios in LA over just 10 days, the long awaited followup to their phenomenal debut, Powerplant sees the band step into new territory. The need to expand their sound to match the climatic writing potential of the record, saw drummer Miles Winter stand in as a third member of the outfit, adding yet another element to their often mysterious aesthetic.

Despite the extra layer of sound, the true emphasis, rests with the lyrical intricacies and Powerplant pays homage to the  same sense of vulnerability and emotional connection that fans have come to expect from a Girlpool record. But it’s the unwavering sincerity running through Powerplant that really emphasises Girlpool’s need to initiate an empathetic connection with the listener.

To celebrate the signing, Girlpool have also released the video for the lead single “123”.

Rich with nostalgia and pockets of insecurity and veiled intimacy, the clip is the perfect introduction to Girlpool’s new direction.

Powerplant is released through ANTI-records on May 12th.
