Miguel closes out Day One of the Spotify House at SXSW!

It’s been a hot day in Austin, potentially indicative of the calibre of musical talent punters are still to see at SXSW; as the temperatures continued to soar this afternoon, venues throughout the city began kicking into high gear, with SXSW Music just around the corner.

The Spotify House returned for another year and their line up for 2016 is impeccable, representing some of the best talent in hip hop, indie, electro-pop and more over the next two days. For its first day, the house was operating all cylinders, with the likes of Kevin Garrett performing on the Porch Stage, while Tory LanezLucius and Miguel entertained out on the Main Stage. Comedian Hannibal Burress also returned to Austin for SXSW, introducing artists and making special appearances of his own.

Lanez’s set at the Spotify House was received particularly well, with this fresh and talented MC delivering a set that throttled the air the crowd was breathing in with some spitfire rhymes and a confident bravado that had him working the outdoor stage brilliantly.

Lucius brought a change of pace to proceedings but were equally as attention-grabbing, with matching stage outfits and two incredibly vocalists leading the charge through a set that had to be making them sweat it out as much as the crowd lacking shade.

Headliner Miguel brought a tight set through to the Spotify House, sweating up a storm as he faced the burning sun at 6:15pm, as well as a screaming adoring crowd. Performing material predominantly from third album Wildheart, Miguel did take the opportunity to churn out his cover of Rihanna‘s “Kiss It Better” with the crowd’s help. A dynamite performer, Miguel provided the best standard for all other acts to follow on the Spotify House’s program to now meet.
