Methyl Ethel, Marlon Williams & The Yarra Benders among first 150 bands announced for SXSW!

SXSW is beginning to unveil its roster of artists set to perform at the 2016 Music event in Austin, Texas and already, the 150 names revealed today indicate a great and diverse program. From Germany to Bangladesh, New Zealand to Russia and beyond, musicians are being represented across all genres, making for a great run of opportunities to discover your new favourite underground band or cotton on to the next big thing.

Out of this first announcement, four Australian or Australia-based artists have been announced in Methyl EthelDemi LouiseGold Class and Marlon Williams & The Yarra Benders. They join the likes of Crystal CastlesSon LittleSelf Defense FamilyPrince RamaYuck and Black Asteroid on the full list – to check out the entire first announcement, head to www.sxsw.com/music.

The Austin Convention Center will also be hosting some great Music panels next year. With special keynotes still to be announced, the program has already revealed Talib Kweli will be in conversation with UPROXX’s Jarret Myer for a session entitled “What It Means to Start a Label in the Digital Age”, amongst others.
