Melbourne rapper Ur Boy Bangz announces “last ever” performance for this weekend

Melbourne-based Sudanese rapper Ur Boy Bangz (AKA Bangs or Bangz) has captured the hearts and minds of young Australia by just being himself, pumping out classic viral hits such as “Take U to Da Movies” and “Meet Me on the Facebook”, creating nu-media frenzies with his adorably sharp disses to the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West, and putting on fun live shows despite the ironic fandom surrounding his music. It’s sure been a strangely wild ride for the young rapper, who last year made headlines due to an awkward beef with U.S talk show champ Jimmy Fallon (AKA Jimmy Fallin). All of that has been building up to this point: Bangs’ last performance as an aspiring rapper before he – apparently – retires to focus on building a smartphone app named Sharetimer.

Announced on the Facebook, Bangz will be performing his final ever show this Saturday 13th February at the aptly named BANG! nightclub on Melbourne’s Bourke Street. Fashioned as a Valentine’s Day party, the event poster indicates that Bangz will be headling a line-up that includes Modern Dating, who will performing love song covers, Grim Fizzly & For Pluto, and acoustic sets by Far Away Stables and Gabe Kubanda. We hope this also means acoustic love song covers from Bangz.

There will games of spin the bottle after the performances, and the first 100 people through the door will get some free bubbly (quality unknown). So whether you love Bangz for being the rap game Tommy Wiseau or just someone who brings joy to other people through rhymes, ice-cream-truck-esque beats, and anti-Fallon sentiment, cancel your plans on Saturday and spend time with Ur Boy before he gets all CEO on us and we never get to hear what a “Christmas Story Part IV” sounds like.

BANG! is located at 629 Bourke Street, Melbourne.
