Lollapalooza 2018 will bring some of Australia’s strongest talent to Chicago in August

The 2018 edition of Lollapalooza was just announced and the lineup is riddled with big names and massive headliners. From possibly the biggest pop stars of today, to the most iconic rockers of this generation, the Chicago four day music festival will have something for everyone and especially a great Australian presence. Bruno Mars, Jack White and The Weeknd will headline along with a huge contingent of Australia’s freshest and best musicians.

Tash Sultana has had an amazing year charting across the United States and she will most likely have her biggest American crowd ever as she plays Saturday night in primetime right before The Weeknd and Vampire Weekend play their headlining sets. The R&B standout from Melbourne is guaranteed to play one of the best sets of the fest and gain thousands of American fans in the process.

Gang of Youths got perhaps their biggest break yet when it was announced they would be opening for the Foo Fighters during their latest tour. The ripple effects of such a huge announcement will definitely generate a huge crowd for these Aussies and it should be great practice for playing for large crowds of Americans ready to rock. Last year, Flume played one of Lollapalooza’s main stages and I swear he had the biggest crowd of the entire festival. What So Not will try to duplicate that success and carry the Aussie EDM flag.

The Perry’s Stage which is reserved for solely EDM acts is one of the coolest experiences for any festival and What So Not will close the festival on Sunday on this special stage. There are many other Aussie acts at the festival such as the Melbourne singer-songwriter Alex Lahey, Lahey busted on the US Scene in 2016 when her track “You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me” being named Pitchfork’s Best New Track Award. Lahey has only been performing in the US for less than a year, and with so much critical success coming from the US, the massive US crowds of fans are sure to follow.

Amy Shark will be a long way from the Gold Coast when she plays one of the festivals biggest stages. Lollapalooza marks Shark’s biggest US festival of her career. Her upbeat music and wonderful stage presence will resonate big time for the Chicago crowds.

Vera Blue from Forbes, Australia will definitely be playing her biggest festival of her life. The singer will have the amazing honour of playing the BMI stage. The BMI stage is one of the smaller more intimate stages of the festival, but has had such artists like Halsey, Chance the Rapper, and Cage the Elephant. Some of the other non-Australian highlights are Arctic Monkeys, Logic, The National, Odesza, CHVRCHES, Portugal. The Man and many many more.

Lollapalooza takes place in Chicago from August 3rd – 6th. For more information, visit www.lollapalooza.com.
