Julia Jacklin, The Avalanches, Big Scary among J Award nominees for 2016

It’s November, which means that for triple j, it’s officially Australian Music Month – dedicated to celebrating homegrown music and the artists who have been emerging, thriving and consistently nailing it throughout the year! This morning, the annual J Awards were announced, returning for its 12th year. The awards recognise breakthrough artists, some incredible albums and music videos, as well as the Double J Artist of the Year.

Earning nods this year are artists including Julia Jacklin with her debut album Don’t Let The Kids WinThe Avalanches with their long awaited Wildflower record, Flume‘s sophomore effort Skin and Big Scary‘s acclaimed new album Animal. Jacklin, Alex LaheyTash SultanaKuren and recent Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition winner Gretta Ray have been nominated for the Unearthed Artist of the Year J Award, while Courtney BarnettKing Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and more have had some of their music videos also thrown in the mix.

The winners of the 2016 J Awards will be announced via live broadcast from 4pm, November 17th – check out the full list of nominees below!
