Future of the Left plot return to Australia next January

Future Of The Left

There’s a good reason that British rock band Future Of The Left have such a hardcore cult following. They combine some of the most satisfying, lean, visceral rock music you’ve ever heard with lyrics that demand repeated listens. Whether it’s lines like “Kim Kardashian is chased through woodland by a giant bear wearing a mask which carries the visage of recently deceased film director Michael Winner” or the adrenaline that their music involuntarily pumps through you, once you’ve listened to their music there’s no going back. Tracks like “Arming Eritrea” or “How To Spot A Record Company” connect on a fundamental level that demands to be heard live.

They return to Australia for their first tour in four years with a string of dates in January 2018. Since they were last here, Andrew Falkous has released four solo albums under the guise Christian Fitness and Future Of The Left released their devastating album The Peace & Truce of Future of the Left in 2016. Frontman Andrew Falkous and Australian bassist Julia Ruzicka have since got married and had a child. To say they’ve been busy is an understatement.

Some may be more familiar with the band who preceded Future Of The Left, mclusky. The band, which featured Future Of The Left’s Jack Egglestone and Andrew Falkous in their line up were the ones to first create this cult status around Andrew Falkous’s output with a reputation for devastating live shows. This is something that has been carried forward with Future Of The Left where band members play each gig as if it were their last creating chaos in the audience. There’s no way you can hear their massive riffs live and not want to get primal.
