Hip hop is going to be the focus of this year’s Klub Koori event at Carriageworks in Sydney; celebrating emerging and established Indigenous artists on July 7th this year, the line up is all killer, no filler.
Presented by Carriageworks and Koori Radio 93.7FM, Klub Koori this year will be hosting a special showcase gig by emerging artists from the Young Black & Deadly youth program run by the Gadigal Information Service Aboriginal Corporation.
The YBD program has given its participants the opportunities to take part in a range of performance, song writing, producing and recording activities alongside a talented group of mentors including Leah Flanagan, Mark Ross, Jake Ballard and Marcus Corowa. These artists, between 11 and 17 years of age, will be presenting a performance representative of a diverse range of styles in relating stories and issues pertinent to Indigenous artists.
The rest of the line up Klub Koori has curated for NAIDOC Week this year (the theme of which is “Songlines”) is dynamic, featuring some blistering performances from the likes of Jimblah (pictured), Nooky and Lady Lash, not to mention being hosted by legends Izzy and MunkiMuk.
