Björk launches debut episode of Red Bull Music Academy’s Couch Wisdom podcast series

Continuing to bolster their roster of ever-switched on events and workshops, the Red Bull Music Academy has launched a brand new podcast series entitled Couch Wisdom. Premiering ahead of the RBMA’s Berlin event that celebrates the academy’s 20th anniversary this month, Couch Wisdom digs back through the archives in presenting some memorable lectures and conversations with some of the world’s best artists.

The first installation of the Couch Wisdom series sees Björk in conversation back in 2016 with the RBMA in Montreal as she promoted her new single, “The Gate. Hosted by Emma Warren, the conversation took in Björk’s expansive career and boundary pushing approach to fashion, music and art. Listen in here.

“I was in the music scene in Iceland as a teenager.” Björk explained. “Half of it was girls, and I was brought up to think that the girls are just as important and as strong as guys. So it wasn’t until I went abroad that I would hit walls. I was maybe 30 years old. So I thought… put light on this, and try to show other women and guys that a society exists and functions where we are equal.”

Episodes of Couch Wisdom will air on Mondays and are set to feature the likes of Iggy PopKaytranadaTanya Tagaq and more.
