Applications open for this year’s Surry Hills Festival, returning to Sydney on September 24th

The Surry Hills Festival announced today that it will be returning for its 14th year on Saturday, September 24th. The much loved inner-city festival continues its celebration in 2016 highlighting Surry Hills’ history, colourful culture, diversity and community spirit. The funds raised on the day will go towards the vital community programs of the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre.

Applications are now open for bands, DJs, artistic performers, vendors and local businesses wanting to get involved with the festival. Local creative spaces are also welcome to apply as part of the Surry Hills Festival Creative and Food Trail. All applications can be applied through HERE – applications close June 3rd.

In preparations for the festival, the Surry Hills Festival will be holding creative workshops at the Surry Hills Markets on the first Saturday of each month. You’ll be able to head down Shannon Reserve on May 7th, June 4th, July 2nd, August 6th and September 3rd to enjoy delicious baked scones at the Community Café and can also participate in creating amazing art installations that will line the streets of Surry Hills in the lead up to the festival. You can choose to either be part of Popping Pom Pom, Picnic Blanket Story or The Surry Hills Wall of Fame.

The Surry Hills Festival is a FREE family-friendly event and it will be jam-packed with live music, pop-up spaces, local narratives and all-things food and art. It is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate Surry Hills for its creativity and innovation.
