Single of the Day: The Ocean Party “Quality Control” (2017)

The Ocean Party are an enigmatic kind of group, with each member sharing vocals and writing. The Melbourne-via-Wagga six piece have just dropped hazy, dreamy, guitar-pop single ‘Quality Control’, recorded in just over an hour in a small NSW coastal town.

The track is tongue in cheek, arising from a friend’s comment that the band had “no quality control”. Naturally, this sardonic track confounds that statement entirely, the melancholic track emanating quality. They’re definitely one of the few bands out there that effortlessly delivers high quantities (six albums in three years) of impeccable quality.

The group have just returned from a US tour, and are playing a few shows to support the new single:

Saturday 8 April | The Ocean Party + Shining Bird + Australia + Sunscreen, Oxford Art Factory, Darlinghurst

Sunday 9 April The Ocean Party + FLOWERTRUCK, Avalon Bowling Club then Wombarra Bowling Club (Wollongong)
