Single of the Day: Perfume Genius “Slip Away” (2017)

We’re still a little ways off from the new Perfume Genius album, No Shape, being released but thankfully, we’ve been gifted a new single to hold on to in the meantime – “Slip Away”. Produced by Blake Mills in LA, the album is out on May 5th, and looks to be a more than fitting follow up to Perfume Genius’ 2014 masterpiece, Too Bright.

“Slip Away” is a provocative song in its arrangement, continuing to push forward in the way Perfume Genius only knows how. Merging pop with R&B and alt-soul influences together to make a sound that could comfortably sit alongside the likes of Passion Pit, Chairlift and YELLE, “Slip Away” is a catchy example of the potential still to be tapped into as Perfume Genius continues to traverse musical territory that embraces ravenous ambition and bold artistry alive.
