Single of the Day: Lilah “Pushed Your Hands” (2017)

Out of Brisbane comes multi-instrumentalist Lilah. With her new single, “Pushed Your Hands”, the songwriter has taken the foundations laid on debut tune “Hold Me” into darker ambient pop territory, exploring space and darker tones to great effect. The sound of “Pushed Your Hands” is melancholic and yearning in the way a broken heart does, and in the distinct weaves and progressions of each strike of the synth and strings, Lilah works her way through the pain beautifully.

Lilah’s vocals also struck us on this track; fragile and romantic, her voice grows in strength as the song enters its second half. “Pushed Your Hands” may be rooted in darkness but by the end of the song, it’s definitely emerged into a light all it’s own.
