Single of the Day: Kyle Thornton & The Company “Magic” (2016)

When we first came across Boston soul/R&B group Kyle Thornton & The Company at Lollapalooza in Chicago last year, we knew we’d come across something special. In their latest single “Magic”, we’re stoked to see that that, well, magic, they’d conjured onstage for music fans during that festival has extended back into the studio with the making of this little gem.

There’s a classic R&B vibe about “Magic” – the perfect coupling of some insatiable grooves with a rich and silky vocal is always a killer combination and the winning result is definitely felt here. Taken from the band’s forthcoming sophomore release WNDR, “Magic” is a cool little taste of what to be expecting from the group as they aim to, ‘Create a sound that is Soul-Hop. …Something raw and honest that gives you that warm feel of the classics of Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers and D’Angelo…”.

We think they’re well on their way.
