Single of the Day: Horror My Friend “Admit None” (2017)

As we head closer to BIGSOUND mania, we’re sharing another track from a band we’re going to be rallying round next week – one of our favourite Adelaide groups, Horror My Friend.

We’ve been championing these guys for years now, but certainly in the last two, the trio have leapt forth onto the national scene with a slew of positively-received singles, an acclaimed debut album and multiple raucous shows in the back pocket. It the lead up to BIGSOUND and their September tour dates, the boys have dropped a new single in “Admit None”.

Where Horror My Friend are characteristically known for their thundering riffs and angst-drenched vocal progressions, “Admit None” sees the band sink deep into the more melodic, anthemic side of their songwriting spectrum. There’s an edge to this tune that sets it aside from the previously released “DIYS” and it’s not to say one is better than the other; “Admit None” shines in a different light. The band is continuing to come into their own and mature as writers and musicians – “Admit None” is a great example of such development.
