Single of the Day: Heart Beach “Brittle” (2016)

Tassie trio Heart Beach have really come out strong off the back of their debut self-titled album, released last year, haven’t they? Jumping on the buzz generated around their music on triple j Unearthed, ClaireJonathon and Christopher have continued to display some killer indie-pop sensibilities, exciting us when thinking about what’s still to come for them.

Prior to listening to their tune “Brittle”, I thought the numerous comparisons to Echo and The Bunnymen and Pixies had probably been slightly overdone but upon that first listen, I totally got it. And they aren’t bad comparisons, in any way. The fragile state you can find yourself post-breakup – emotionally scattered, tender – is brought to life with some great instrumentation and a vocal quality that draws you right in.

Taken from Heart Beach’s forthcoming new album, Kiss Your Face, “Brittle” is a fine place to start if you’re just coming to this band now.
