Single of the Day: Emma Russack “Everybody Cares” (2017)

Put your hands up is Emma Russack‘s In a New State went down incredibly well with you last year? It did with us and so today, we’re stoked to have found a new slice of music from the Melbourne artist sitting, waiting to be delved into. In “Everybody Cares”, the singer-songwriter has doled out the first taste of her new album and the final result is as moody and witty as we’ve come to expect from Russack.

What first drew us to Emma last year was her way with words; she can remain incredibly tongue-in-cheek as a lyricist but make no mistake, her talent as a story teller and writer doesn’t lack in seriousness or captivating charm. As she drily  explains of “Everybody Cares”,

“Some people think your friends aren’t really going to miss you or be annoyed if you don’t show up to a social gathering you said you’d attend. I decided this couldn’t possibly be true in my case – surely I am that much fun that everybody cares if I’m not at the party. Speculation? Certainly – but I like to think that’s how it is.”

Check it for yourself.
