Single of the Day: Ali E “Two By One” (2016)

Ali E has produced a great new track in “Two By One”; a single further showcasing her talent as a songwriter and vocalist. Recorded and mixed at Captain B Studios by Brooke Penrose and featuring instrumentation from Mark RenallLeigh Ewbank and Ceci Dowling, the latest Ali E offering is broody, enticing and grungy all at the same time.

A song about selfishness and miscommunication’s effect on relationships and ultimately, when ‘love is sometimes not enough to sustain a relationship’, “Two By One” fuses hazy grunge tones with an unmistakably Australian folk sound that hits hard a la Adalita or Courtney Barnett.
