Music Video of the Day: Vance Joy “Straight Into My Arms” (2016)

Vance Joy released the visuals for his current single “Straight Into My Arms” and like the music videos for “Georgia” and “Fire and the Flood” before it, it’s another striking and memorable offering. Directed by Toby Ashenheim, the music video utilises puppets and 3D animation, a process that took months to complete.

It’s complex, poignant and engaging to watch, as the puppets dance but are mirrored by human shadows. Says Ashenheim of the project:

“In a way, the dolls could be anyone, what’s important is that when they’re together they become something truly special, representing a unique bond between two people who have been very close, friends or lovers…a dynamic that may only ever be understood by them.”
