Music Video of the Day: Saskwatch “Then There’s You” (2017)

Saskwatch dive in with the intimate music video for new single, “Then There’s You”, released this week. It’s another insight into the Melbourne band’s upcoming fourth album, Manual Override, and is showing us all the depth in writing and evocative lyrics we’ve known from the group in the past, with a refreshed energy driving the music and a trajectory of ambition aimed oh so high.

This is a group that has found their own groove and have become increasingly more comfortable with it. Let’s not forget the path Saskwatch decidedly moved away from when 2015’s Sorry I Let It Come Between Us was released. It showed a brand new approach and an excitement in delving into previously unexplored areas of their musicality; while the album was divisive in some respects, Saskwatch emerged from the process with the foundations laid for Manual Override to build upon.

Which bring us to “Then There’s You”. Vocalist Nkechi Anele shines on the track – the vulnerability and honesty you can hear in her voice is so grounded in real emotion, her presence undeniable here. In the film clip, she performs, submerged in a milk bath as foliage and leaves surround her. Along with actor Zeppelin, a hazy, dream-like environment is quickly established, coloured delicately  by the music and gorgeous inclusion of the green.

Director Madeline Kelly has really switched it on for this one, check it out below.

Saskwatch are performing two special album preview shows next month:

July 5th | The Curtin Hotel, MELBOURNE
July 6th | Lansdowne Hotel, SYDNEY
