Music Video of the Day: Sail On! Sail On! “Hobart” (2017)

Even though they’re hidden away in Perth, Sail On! Sail On! have been making waves as one of Australia’s best up and coming heavy acts. Leering between influences, anything and everything from Title Fight to At The Drive In, they deliver driving and emotive post-hardcore.

Their latest music video, although lacking the calibre of cinematography we’ve seen in their previous releases, is a must see; a homage to Aussie punk music vids. Yeah, I’m talking DZ Deathrays‘ “The Mess Up”, and Dune Rats “Red Light, Green Light”. Instead of downing a bottle of Jagermeister, or ripping thirty something cones, guitarists Skinny O’Leary and Ethan Reed take on a vegan dream; a one kilogram tub of hummus.

I’m expecting there to still be hummus in Skinny‘s hair next time they play. The four-piece haven’t got any tour dates lined up at the moment, but you can grab their independently released debut album, You Are Not You, via their website. Check it out, it’s one of the best heavy releases this year – expect some experimental and angular guitar work, distinctive vocals and moments of ear-splitting ferocity.
