Mojo Juju has long been one of Australia’s most dynamic performers and in her songwriting over the last few years in particular, has demonstrated her talent as an intense and driven artist unafraid to wear her personal stories – challenges and wins – on her sleeve.
The new single from Mojo, “Native Tongue”, is a portrait of the artist at her most personal yet. Produced by Joelistics and featuring the stunning Pasefika Vitoria Choir, Mojo tears apart the prejudices she has had to face as a queer woman of colour, as well as navigating growing up in Australia and being of mixed ethnicity. The song is empowering and haunting all at the same time, and the music video is equally as stirring.
Featuring Djuki Mala, the “Native Tongue” music video is raw and excellent in its delivery, directed by Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore.
