Music Video of the Day: Kendrick Lamar “DNA” (2017)

Let’s be real, I don’t think everybody’s completely recovered from the release of Kendrick Lamar‘s DAMN. yet. I know we’re not. Following his Easter weekend gift of an album and that Coachella performance, the online arena doesn’t know whether to be shook or woke right now but Kung Fu Kenny hasn’t waited round, instead coming through again; this time, with the music video for stomper album track “DNA”.

Starring Don Cheadle (c’mon now, mate), Lamar faces off against him in the clip, handcuffed to a desk and hooked up to a lie detector machine – an interrogation via the lyrics. Heading outdoors, we have scenes of Kendrick and his boys on the street and shots of girls joyriding through the night, before ScHoolboy Q lights up, approaches the camera and punches it out.

“DNA” itself remains one of the most ruthless and viciously delivered tracks on DAMN. and man, does the music video deliver on hard-hitting defiance.
