Exclusive Single Premiere: Kathleen Mary Lee “Hey, Very Good Friend” (2016)

Here’s some nice, soothing sounds for your Thursday morning. Melbourne songwriter Kathleen Mary Lee is soon to be releasing her debut EP next month and today, we’re excited to be premiering her new single from it – “Hey, Very Good Friend”.

There’s a timid, delicate approach to the song’s delivery that first caught our attention – a wistful, beautiful quality that stood out instantly. The arrangement is simple but for this style of folk music, the outrageous is definitely not needed. Kathleen’s vocals are raw and beautiful to listen to, while the music is reminiscent of folk from the 60’s.

It’s nostalgic, but doesn’t rely on the sounds of the past in making an impact.

Have a listen below!

Kathleen Mary Lee’s debut EP, Nice Kind of Pain, is out July 1st.
