Adelaide’s Neon Tetra unleash their new EP Pollen this week – if you were a fan of their catchy single “The End Begins Again”, you’re in luck. The band has continued to explore their love for gospel notes, soul richness and the Motown golden era, bringing these influences together with excellent synth work and current pop.
Their latest single “So Far From Me” falls perfectly in line with previous Neon Tetra releases and will no doubt be a live favourite on stages in coming months. Working with Jack Fenby again on this one, Neon Tetra find themselves in the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide, immersing themselves in a decidedly off kilter narrative.
We wouldn’t expect anything less.
“The first thing that came to my head when hearing the word ‘pollen’ was sunflowers.” Fenby says. “I wanted the boys to be like sunflowers in a garden bed. We filmed in the Botanical Gardens; no fast cuts and over-editing. The flow of the song doesn’t need it. I watched a movie called Barry Lyndon a couple of months before this. Heaps of slow zooms – loved it. One of the best shot films ever. I wanted to recreate that and bring back the corny long zoom.”
