This year, we’ve been loving watching songwriter Colin Lillie continue to flourish as an artist as more crowds have begun to twig onto the earnest and incredibly candid nature of his musical style and lyricism as the last few months have rolled out. BIGSOUND this year proved to be very fruitful for the Scotsman now living in Alice Springs, and with the release of his debut album Glass Homes also following in September, the momentum surrounding Lillie has continued to generate.
Today, we’re stoked to be premiering his new music video for single “Within” – with little light surrounding him aside from the burning flames of a fire and a spotlight cast on the dusty piano Lillie plays, the visuals match the striking, punching force of the song perfectly. He rages as the lyricism of “Within” channels passioned, cathartic expression; an epic offering that deals with anxiety and fear, but the road to eventually breaking free from its bounds.
“At some point I had to leave fear and open up to the idea that sharing can bring change.” Lillie has explained. “That we may still have pain fear and anxiety that burn within but it is better to free the truth than to keep it inside.”
