Exclusive Album Premiere: Slowly Slowly – Chamomile (2016 LP)

Since we first heard the memorably titled “Pussy Makes The World Go Round” (aka “PMTWGR”), we’ve been hooked on Melbourne duo Slowly Slowly.

Between Ben Stewart and Alex Quale there exists a painfully genuine and heartfelt sense of songwriting and lyricism, an honesty that fans will have easily gleaned from “PMTWGR” and “New York Paris” in particular. On their debut album Chamomile, premiering today on the AU, this talent and introspective approach to writing is further explored and it’s a wonderful collection of material to sink your teeth into.

Melancholy and emotion trickle down and drip from guitar lines, while Stewart’s lyrics hang in the air after the last chug fades out. From “Deathproof” to the album’s title track and “Hey You”, we see more of Slowly Slowly’s progression as a creative unit, while tracks “Good Friends” and album opener “Elbows” in particular have left us hitting ‘play’ time and time again.

Listen to Chamomile below and be sure to check Slowly Slowly out when they launch this baby at The Evelyn in Melbourne on August 19th. Grab your tickets for the show HERE.
