Exclusive Album Premiere: Sarah Leete – Self-Titled (2017 EP)

Sometimes a bit a country is good for the soul. Not only that, there’s definitely proof in the pudding that current country music has had the weight behind it to cross over into the commercial charts. Looking at the likes of Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, The Wolfe Brothers, Kasey Chambers, Catherine Britt and early Taylor Swift, it’s easy to see where pop and rock influences have bled into the well established traditions of country music, making it more accessible for a younger crowd.

So speaking of young country musicians making waves, meet Sarah Leete. Hailing from the Central Coast, Leete has been performing and writing songs since the age of 12, while kicking off music as a professional career back in 2011. Since then, she has recorded with Steve Newton in Tamworth, and supported the likes of Fanny Lumsden and Bill Chambers recently. Her debut EP (out officially tomorrow), saw Leete head into the Black Wolf Studios and work with an array of impressive musicians who have records with the likes of Troy Cassar-Daley and The McClymonts already to their name. Produced by Catherine Britt, Leete’s self-titled debut is a mixture of country and easy pop, broaching the two genres in producing music that really comes from the heart in its storytelling.
