Yannis Philippakis of Foals (UK) chats What Went Down at Falls Festival!

Headlining the final night of the Falls Festival at Mt. Duneed Estate, Foals were understandably a large drawcard for many in attendance. The band’s frontman Yannis Philippakis sat down with us before they brought in the New Year to chat about the success of their latest release, What Went Down, and how they’ve been enjoying their Australian return.

“It’s been amazing,” he says of the response to the album. “Kind of predictably, the songs that are singles like “Mountain…” and “What Went Down”, when we play them live, it’s just like it’s added a whole new gear to the set. The intensity level has gone up, so it’s just a joy to be playing the new stuff at the moment. I think the next stage is to start playing the deep album cuts like “Nightswimmers” and “Birch Tree” and stuff like that, but that will come soon.”

Foals play Festival Hall in Melbourne on January 7th before hitting up Southbound on January 9th! What Went Down is now available now – head to www.foals.co.uk for more on the band.
