Not to be confused with fellow musician and daughter of Willie Nelson, Canadian singer songwriter Amy Nelson has long been forging her way as one of the country’s hardest touring independent artists. In Australia for shows that brought her to the east coast, Amy caught up with us in Sydney.
“I came to Australia as a backpacker years and years ago,” she says. “More recently, I’m here for music and my career, but I did travel around the entire country. I had gotten my teaching degree back home and was trying to avoid growing. I instead bought a ticket to Australia and ended up teaching here because I ran out of money!”
Amy also delves into her work with kids in their exploration of music and singing, as well as the work ethic that goes into it all.
