Aussies at SXSW: Spotlight on 2016 Showcase Artist Julia Jacklin!

Well, we’re days away from SXSW kicking off now and we’re still finding out  more about the talent set to make their Austin debuts next week. One such artist we’re looking forward to seeing out there is Sydney’s Julia Jacklin who, off the back of her latest single “Pool Party”, has been generating a considerable amount of buzz that she’ll no doubt be capitalising on with these upcoming Texas dates! Find out more about the lady and her expectations of the event below…

What are you hoping will come out of the year’s event for you?

Just hoping to meet some nice people, play some good shows, see some good shows and try not to fuck it up.

Why should SXSW attendees come and see you?

Well, I travelled a long way, so it would be nice to have an audience of some kind. I like the songs, so I’m sure some other people will too.

What is a track that you think best represents where you are right now and what audiences can expect from your sound and your set?

“Pool Party”

What made you want to showcase at SXSW?

Well I got in, that was a pretty big motivator! Looks like a pretty great time and a lot of my favourite artists have played there. Sounds good for character building.

Do you have any dream collaborations?

I’d love to do one of those jazz standards collaborative efforts. Maybe with Steve Smyth or Willy Mason. Just wireless microphones and lots of eye contact.

How much US touring is on the cards for this year?

So far this is it, but we’ll see. We’ll see.

How do you think/hope the American crowd will receive your music?

Well!

What other Aussie act playing SXSW would you recommend the rest of the world needs to see?

Big White make me very happy and [also] keen to see Lo Carmen.

Please list your SXSW showcases (to now) and where we can find you!
