Artists at BIGSOUND 2016: Hideous Sun Demon (Perth) on playing Brisbane for the first time this week!

WA indie rockers Hideous Sun Demon are set to play their first ever shows in Brisbane this week, heading east for BIGSOUND 2016. Having built up a solid reputation for themselves as not only a strong live act, but a band with a knack for whipping out some killer tunes (see: “Oscillate” and “Bad Girl” in particular), Hideous Sun Demon are definitely going to be ones to watch on ground as BIGSOUND rolls out.

Is this your first BIGSOUND? If so, how are you anticipating the event?

This is our first BIGSOUND. You hear real good things about it over here pretty often, so we’re excited.

There are going to be so many shows to be seeing; do you have any type of game plan going into BIGSOUND this year when it comes to dealing with the craziness?

No, we don’t really know what to do. We’ll figure it out!

Are there any particular artists you’re keen to see that you’d recommend someone else hitting BIGSOUND for the first time?

Terrible Truths, The Laurels, The Gooch Palms, Sampa the Great, The Belligerents, and WA buddies Mosquito Coast, Kučka and Verge Collection.

For emerging Australian talent, what would you say is one of the biggest things you could hope to take away from an event like BIGSOUND?

Contacts, exposure, contacts, exposure, contacts, et al.

In terms of new music, can you tell us a bit about what you’re working on at the moment and if you’re going to be looking to show off some fresh or new tunes for the BIGSOUND crowd?

We are about to put out a whole entire album called Industry Connections real soon, so we’ll be playing a lot of tracks from that. We have never played Brisbane before, so I guess it will all be new material for a lot of people.

What music of yours should we be checking out ahead of BIGSOUND?

“Bad Girl”, “Oscillate” and “Cul-de-Sac Vision” are all singles we’ve put out ahead of the upcoming album. “Cul-de-Sac Vision” has a disgustingly patriotic video as well…

Hideous Sun Demon play three shows as part of BIGSOUND this year. Find them on Tuesday night at the Barbara Bar (time TBC), at The Brightside for the Pilerats Carpark Party on Wednesday, September 7th (3:00pm) and at the Crowbar on Wednesday night from 9:00pm
