Tour Diary: Melbourne’s AEORA takes us through her first Canadian Music Week

For Melbourne artist AEORACanadian Music Week provided her the opportunity to not only perform for the first time outside Australia, but also to explore a foreign music community that has been home to some brilliant emerging artists over the last few years. She takes us through the trip via this special tour diary below…

So, my manager Gemma and I went off to Canada – first stop LA. We were tired and in a weird dream state because time zones, but it was nice and sunny in LA so I couldn’t complain.

The next day we arrived into a very cold Toronto. I layered all my thermals on and was ready to explore the land.

First stop was a music store to hire a keyboard stand and that basically meant synth exploring for me.

Thursday was the big day – three gigs in one night. I was mentally and physically trying to prep myself the whole day – I tried not to eat any diary products and only had two mental breakdowns (just kidding). The first one was the AUSSIE BBQ. What a line up, and I was on first!

Unfortunately I had to run off quick to my next showcase. We got there just in time due to my very organised manager and Uber driver – cheers m8! My last showcase was at 2.50am and yep, you can guess it – I was tired. At one point in the night, security told me off for resting my eyes. Oops. But anyway, the show went really well and I met so many amazing people.

The next few days we had left we spent walking around Toronto and soaking up the beautiful city.

We also went to the museum and met all these amazing insects. I’m currently learning about these insects at Uni so it was actually very cool to see them in real life. This one is a leaf insect.
