Six Reasons to be at Jaben Audio’s Silent Gig at The Evelyn Hotel this Saturday

Tomorrow, there’s a show going down at The Evelyn Hotel in Melbourne. Tell us something new, I can hear you saying. Well, okay. Putting a twist on the way you’re set to experience a stellar line up of local musicians; the crew from boutique headphone outlet Jaben Audio is putting on a ‘silent’ gig.

Ticket holders will be able to see the artists do their thing, but listening through headphones – a unique live music event up on offer for your Saturday night. Each of the team behind the event come from musical backgrounds themselves, whether they be musicians, engineers or producers and in putting this event on, they’ve made sure that it’s going to be an experience well worth your money.

So what can you expect? Let’s dole out the six surefire live music highlights.

NAI PALM

The Hiatus Kaiyote frontwoman was recently unveiled as the show’s ‘secret headliner’ and has already added some definite hype to the silent show since.

She’s spent much of the time on the road with the group, as well as playing solo, pulling in more international acclaim though 2016 – no doubt, Nai’s set at The Evelyn is going to be a special and unmissable one.

manmademountain

MAN MADE MOUNTAIN

The House of Beige members have been doing their thing awfully smoothly through this year, nailing it on stages right around the country. Making hip hop music that is more than just your usual, Man Made Mountain are rhythmic, captivating and a whole lot of fun.

Uplifting and all-inclusive, the Man Made Mountain show is one that encourages positivity, good times and kicking back. Perhaps you’ll hear some music you weren’t up on before. Perhaps you need an excuse to forget about how shit your week was. Let MMM take care of ya.

dearplastic

DEAR PLASTIC

The Melbourne five piece have been making some lush as hell sounds recently, with their tune “Zero” (music video below) being one of our favourites.

Bringing together broody and dark soundscapes while showcasing great technical skill, Dear Plastic have atmospheric and theatric synth goodness on lock.

AEORA

Melbourne vocalist and producer AEORA has been on our radar since “Medicine” and “Afloat” were released to much acclaim. Her debut EP Alt has displayed more of this young artist’s talent and moreover, the potential she still has to offer.

2016 has already seen AEORA on the road on the east coast, touring with her label mates RKDA, while landing some impressive supports with the likes of Kate Martin and Chase City. Expect more of the good stuff from AEORA as 2017 rolls out, we can’t wait.

ESESE

ESESE, or ‘Eastern Seaboard Electric Soul Experience’, have been rocking off the back of a run of promising live shows on the local front this year. They performed at the Laneway Festival earlier this year and off the back of the release of the Act 1 EP last September, the collective wasted no time in getting back into the studio to record the follow up.

Featuring vocals from the likes of Henok.eTiaryn and MMM’s Cazeaux OsloAct 2 features all the trademarks of a classic ready for live performance.

SQUIDGENINI

Bursting out on to the scene with her single “Fire”, the producer and vocalist made her mark early. The talented musician has been on stage with Japanese Wallpaper, performing as part of his band during the M83 tour, while last month, she was on the road with Kilo Kish – an ultimate musical crush of ours.

As her production and music game continues to develop, SQUIDGENINI is an artist who has got a knack for pulling you in and keeping your attention square on the unique sounds thriving from studio, on to the stage.
