From Alison Wonderland to ZHU: Nine Field Day artists you can’t miss this New Year’s Day

Since 2002, Field Day has helped the over 18’s crowd in Sydney celebrate the New Year with some of the biggest (and most eclectic) names in party music. This year is no different, with a fantastic line-up of musical artists that will make the first day of 2017 one you won’t forget. January 1st will host some big-name artists in The Domain and if you’re having a hard time deciding who to go see, we’ve got your top 9 must-see artists right here.

Alison Wonderland

Sydney born-and-bred artist Alison Wonderland has made a huge impact in the Australian dance music scene, especially since dropping her debut album in 2015. Originally a classically trained cellist now turned DJ/Music Producer, her music has been present in many scenes all over the country. This year, she featured on Triple J’s Hottest 100 coming in at number 59. Be sure to see this globe conquering Aussie superstar in action!

Chance The Rapper

American Hip-Hop artist Chance The Rapper will hit the Domain for a night of new music from his latest album, Coloring Book. This 24 year-old Grammy nominated artist is a definite must-see as he has been described as a “generational voice” and has worked with the likes of Kanye West, featuring on one of the best tracks of 2016, “Ultralight Beam”.

Childish Gambino (2 of 5)

Childish Gambino

This man has not only written for hit shows like 30 Rock and starred in some of the biggest TV series and films in the United States (Community, Interstellar and now Atlanta), but he is also a highly respected rapper and musician. Childish Gambino will hit the Domain stage and if you want to be entertained, this is the guy to go see. With his (divisive) newest album, Awaken, My Love! released only earlier this month, you’ll be in for a great time.

Electropop artist has has a big year in 2016. Last year she teamed up with Major Lazer and DJ Snake for one of the best songs of the year “Lean On“. This year we loved her hit, “Final Song”. She will play these and many of her other hits at the Domain on Jan 1st.

SAFIA

If you want to dance, get down to the Centre Field to see Australian electropop, indie-pop band SAFIA. Their debut album Internal was released September this year and featured killer songs like “Over You” and “Make Them Wheels Roll”. These guys will get your body moving like no other.

Broods

From just across the pond, New Zealand born brother and sister Broods will bring their indie-pop electric music to Australian shores. The duo have toured with big names like Ellie Goulding, Haim and Sam Smith, and played iconic festivals like Lollapalooza. “Heartlines” features on their newest album Conscious which will tug at your heart strings and make you move.

ZHU

ZHU

ZHU is sure to be a big hit this year at the domain. The musician and singer’s music features heavy electronic sounds that will make you want to dance this New Year’s Day. “Faded” has been one of his biggest hits and will hopefully feature in his set at the Domain.

Hermitude

Hermitude

World conquering Aussie duo Hermitude have graced the EDM with creations and remixes since since 2003. They were nomintated for several ARIA awards last year and the duo will bring hits such as “The Buzz” and “Ukiyo” the the Field Day Festival.

What So Not-77

What So Not

Get ready for some heavy electric-pop (just how we know you like it). With hits like “Waiting” and “Adieu”, What So Not is going to be one of the big EDM hits of the festival. Previously produced with Flume, the now solo artist (Chris Emerson) has played at festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza. What So Not will no doubt bring his A-Game to the festival this year. And we can’t wait.
